“Ukraine The Brave” is a song that was written in support of the Ukrainian people struggling with the invasion of their country. This song is being released on iTunes, Spotify and several social media platforms on the one-year anniversary of the start of the war. All profits from the song will be donated to a Ukraine charity. We also encourage other artists to do their own version in whatever form it may be.

The Back Story

Joel Grundahl was watching the start of the invasion of Ukraine on tv when moved by the situation, he grabbed his guitar and wrote the music for the song. He recorded it on his phone and sent it to Steve Chivilo, a singer with strong ties to Ukraine through his business. Steve wrote lyrics and recorded the vocals, which he then returned to Joel.

From there, they collaborated with the Los Angeles Children’s choir, MUSYCA, to create a one-minute version of the song. However, they soon decided to make a full-band version to reach a wider audience and raise awareness and support for the struggles faced by the people of Ukraine, which is the version you hear now.

The Choir

We chose the MUSYCA Children’s Choir for our Ukraine the Brave project because of their exceptional talent and dedication to musical excellence. The choir consists of highly skilled young singers who have performed in various prestigious venues across the United States and abroad.

It was also a happy coincidence that the director of the choir, Dr. Anna Krendel, is originally from Kharkiv, Ukraine. Her passion for music and Ukrainian heritage made her a perfect fit for our project, which aims to showcase the strength and resilience of the Ukrainian people.
